MVHS student earns a spot as a US finalist in the German Olympics

Reported by Karen_popovich@ipsd.org on 12/16/21

Nikita Khurana (left), a sophomore at Metea Valley High School, outperformed almost 400 students (in the 1–3 year category) to earn her spot as a US finalist in the German Olympics. The Olympics of German Program tests the listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills of German language learners from around the world. The sponsor of this international competition is the Goethe Institute, Germany’s government sponsored language institute.

As a US finalist Nikita met with the 7 other finalists in Chicago, where they competed in linguistic events over 2 days. The finalist stayed in Chicago with the champions earning an all-expenses paid trip to the international competition in Hamburg, Germany next summer!

Nikita placed 5th nationally. Congratulations Nikita!
