Update from the Aurora Police Dept.
Please read the following important message from the Aurora Police Department issued December 5, 2019:
METEA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL THREATS
The Aurora Police Department is investigating two “copycat threats” that were found written in a bathroom on Wednesday and Thursday at Metea Valley High School. APD has investigated the threats and found no credible evidence of a risk to the school. APD has deemed these are copycat threats to the original threat found written on a bathroom wall on Monday.
The threat found on Monday was taken seriously and immediately investigated by APD's School Resource Officer. APD found no evidence of a credible threat to the school. On Tuesday, a juvenile was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in connection to the incident. A second juvenile was arrested on Thursday in connection with today’s incident.
Since Monday's incident, a large number of rumors and fake social media posts and fake pictures continue to be shared on social media by both students and parents. Again, the Aurora Police Department has determined that there is no credible threat to the Metea Valley High School community, and the only threats found were written on the bathroom walls.
Aurora Police and District 204 take any threats very seriously. Please report suspicious or concerning posts directly to the Aurora Police Department by calling 9-1-1 or reporting them to school administration so that they can be investigated. Please do not share it on social media.
