Graduation 2019 Information
Commencement: May 26, 2019
Commencement ceremonies begin promptly at 2 pm on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Our Graduation Ceremony will be held at the Northern Illinois Convocation Center - 1525 West Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, IL 60115 (View Map). Seniors are asked to be at the Convocation Center no later than 12:45 pm. The commencement ceremony will be streamed live and can be accessed here.
Handicap seating may be requested at each entrance to the NIU STAFF. No reservation is necessary. One person can be seated next to your family member in the handicap area. Make sure to request folded chair if you are not in wheelchair. For Map of the conventional center click here.

High School will be recording this year's graduation ceremony as a fundraiser
for MVTV. The DVDs make a great gift for those family members who are unable to
attend the ceremonies, or for those who would like to remember the day for
years to come.There will be 2
opportunities to purchase a copy of the graduation ceremony.You may pre-order or you may order a copy at
the ceremony on May 26th.
Graduation Practice: May 23, 2019
Graduation Practice is mandatory and will be held on May 23 at 9 am in the main gym. Graduation practice will last approximately 2 hours and seniors are expected to be in attendance for the duration of the practice. The Senior Outing will be held immediately following the Graduation practice. Seniors should arrive at Metea no later than 8:30 am. Indian Prairie Scholar cords will be issued to students at graduation practice.
Each graduate will receive Ten (10) tickets for the Graduation Ceremony. Graduates will receive tickets at the graduation practice. For handicapped seating information, please visit the Metea website and click under Graduation Map.
All seniors participating in this ceremony MUST wear their graduation gown for the ceremony. Modest attire is strongly encouraged to be worn under the gown in honor of this special event. Females usually wear dresses and shoes with low heels. Gentlemen usually wear a white collared shirt, dress slacks and dress shoes. Gym shoes, blue jeans, flip flops, or boots will not be allowed. If students are not properly dressed, they will be sent home to change clothes or they will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. Seniors please remember that the only accessory that can be worn on the graduation gown is the Indian Prairie Scholars’ cord. This is in keeping with past practice for graduation uniformity agreed upon by all of our high schools in Indian Prairie School District 204. Thank you.
Cap and Gown Information
Herff Jones will be distributing Caps and Gowns at Metea during the lunch periods on May 9th and May 10th, 2019. No cap and gown will be distributed to students with outstanding financial balances. Herff Jones will also distribute caps and gown to students on May 25th, 2018 after the graduation practice. This will be the last opportunity to collect your cap and gown. All outstanding fees to Metea and balances owed to Herff Jones MUST be paid in full on this date for collection and participation in graduation ceremonies.
All financial obligations with Metea need to be cleared with a zero balance prior to graduation. All registration fees, class lab fees, library fines, activity or athletic financial obligation MUST be paid in full prior to the Cap and Gown pick up on May 9th and 10th 2019. Students with outstanding balances to Metea Valley High School will not be allowed to pick up their Cap and Gown, or participate in the Commencement Ceremonies without clearing their outstanding balances. Gowns must be returned to a Metea Valley worker at the conclusion of the ceremony.
Senior Awards Ceremony: May 7, 2019
Seniors will be honored with an evening ceremony on May 7, 2019 at 7:00 pm to acknowledge their numerous accomplishments and successes. Students are requested to be in place for line-up in the auditorium at 6:45 pm. Scholarships will be awarded from the Metea Unified Scholarship Program along with departmental awards and commendations. Modest attire is strongly encouraged to be worn in honor of this special event. No gym shoes, flip flops or boots will be allowed.
Senior Finals: May 20 and 21, 2019
These are normal days that are NOT early dismissal. Students will be expected to attend their regularly scheduled classes.. Technology of DuPage students MUST attend their program classes at TCD during Senior finals.
Baccalaureate: May 22, 2019
The Baccalaureate ceremony is a non-denominational service of worship in celebration of to learning and wisdom. The Baccalaureate service for the graduating class will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 7 pm in the auditorium. Friends and family are encouraged and welcome to attend. Seniors should report to the Main Entrance at 6:15 pm for lineup. All seniors participating in this ceremony MUST gown in honor of this special event. No gym shoes, flip flops or boots will be allowed. Indian Prairie Scholar cords will be issued to students on this evening.
Graduation Day Pictures
Graduation Images will be photographing all graduates at the ceremony. Visit http://www.gradimages.com for graduation day diploma photo information.
