Senior Families: Important FAFSA and Financial Aid Information
Attention Senior Families:
NEW FOR 2020-21! The State of Illinois now requires all Illinois public high school students to complete either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) or the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid (Alternative Application) as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma. For students who choose not to file an application, a waiver may be completed by their parent and scanned/e-mailed to the student’s alpha house guidance secretary. Metea receives confirmation of your filing but does not have access to the information that you provide. If you have filed, no further action is needed.
If you haven’t yet filled out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Alternative Application, and would like assistance doing so, consider attending an online FAFSA completion workshop. You will be able to ask questions privately via the chat tool as you complete the FAFSA or the Alternative Application. Please see below for a few upcoming events, sponsored by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). Visit this link to register for a FAFSA completion workshop.
Saturday, December 12th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Tuesday, December 15th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Thursday, December 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Assistance with filling out the FAFSA is also available by calling 1-800-433-3243, if you are not able to attend a workshop. Visit this link for information that you will need in order to complete the FAFSA.
