Metea hosts Governor's Debate Viewing
District 204 students will be holding a Gubernatorial debate watching party on Weds. 10/3 from 5:30 - 7:15
Metea and Waubonsie Valley are Illinois Democracy Schools and Mikva Network Schools that share a civic mission that “Democracy is a Verb.” On Wednesday, Oct 3rd, The Mikva Challenge will sponsor about 175 government students from Metea Valley and Waubonsie Valley High Schools to watch the debate between Republican incumbent Governor Bruce Rauner and Democratic challenger JB Pritzker.
From approximately 5:30 pm - 6:00pm, a student representative from each of the two campaigns will talk about why they support each of the candidates and will discuss information about how to get involved in the campaigns. In addition, staff from both the Rauner and Pritzker campaigns will be sending representatives. The students will then watch the live debate: “Vote 2018: The Debate in the Race for Illinois Governor.” The debate will air from 6:00 pm -7:00 pm on ABC 7, abc7chicago.com, the ABC 7 news app and the ABC 7 Chicago Facebook page. After the debate, campaigns will be available to answer questions. Students will be taking notes on what they like and don’t like about what each of the candidates say.
