August Athletes of the Month

Reported by webmaster@ipsd.org on 9/10/18

Boys Soccer- Andrew Wang: Andrew has been solid for men's soccer as they started the season with a 2-1-1 start. His defensive work and composure has allowed playmakers to do their thing as Andrew is behind them cleaning up the mess. As a first year varsity player, Andrew has slid into the starting lineup and played almost every minute this year. His dedication, perseverance and drive have allowed for him to have this success. His calm demeanor is needed in the chaotic games that have been played so far this season.

Dance- Julia Nguyen: Julia Nguyen has been the example of a true leader. Although Julie is not a captain this season as an upperclassmen and veteran on the dance team Julia has shown leadership through her work ethic and open attitude. This summer at UDA Camp Julie earned blue ribbons in both her level 4 hip hop routine as well as her level 3 pom routine. Julia was the only MV dancer in the level 3 pom routine class and taught herself the entire routine in order to be successful in the performance. Julia earned a drill drown ribbon for her listening skills and precise movements called by UDA staff. Not only does Julie exceed in performance she also has no fear in regard to trying new things or rising to meet a challenge. Julia volunteered to participate in the awkward dancing contest in front of the entire camp where she displayed her willing attitude to be authentic and true to herself while representing her team. Julia was awarded the all American honor for her individual audition which showcased her unique dance style personality. Julia is an athlete who respects coaches, commits 100% to the dance team program, and strives to grow both in dance and in life. Metea Valley Dance Team is proud to nominate Julia Nguyen for AOM.
